Real Estate Wiki

A wiki enables documents to be created and then changed and updated through collaboration by anyone using a web browser. The first wiki was started in 1994 and was based on the name of the Honolulu International Airport shuttle called “Wiki-Wiki” … in Hawaiian that means “fast.” In the early 2000s wikis were increasingly adopted in enterprise as collaborative software and Wikipedia became one of the 10 largest websites in the world. In March 2007 the word wiki was even added to the Oxford English Dictionary.

RealEstateWiki.com is the combined effort of more than 20 people that have worked for almost 15 months to create quality real estate related content over a very broad spectrum. The culmination of this effort has produced over 3,000 definitions and terms, almost 1,000 answers to home buying, selling and financing questions, hundreds and hundreds of industry used acronyms, bio’s of prominent real estate leaders, authors, over 1,000 brokers and top producing agents, details of real estate associations, institutes, councils, designations, courses, blogs, social networks and publications … the list just goes on and on.

RealEstateWiki.com is equally divided into two sections – one for Home Buyers, Sellers and Homeowners and the other for Real Estate Professionals. Their stated goal is to be the largest, free, quality resource in the real estate industry and they are asking everyone’s help.

So yes, use it as a resource to find out more about real estate companies, providers, schools, associations, acronyms, books and reports as well hundreds of FAQ’s about the home buying and selling process. You are also welcome to add your company and personal profile. Above all, also remember to give back to the industry and share relevant real estate information that could be useful to someone else. Let’s for the first time stand work together and collectively to build a meaningful resource for the real estate industry.
